Linn and Kelly Shaw are real homebuyers who are a part of the first BuyNewBuyNowAZ.com video series. They are real people who were asked about the process they went through to purchase a home in the Phoenix area. They are real buyers with real answers about what the experience is like for people who are looking at the different types of homes that are available in the current marketplace.
In Part 1 of their interview there are several key points that are common themes in today’s real estate market:
1. Perceived Value Of Distressed Homes:
In today’s marketplace it is a common misconception that all shortsale and foreclosure properties are the best available deals. While good deals do exist on some of these homes, those tend to be the exception, not the rule. These exceptions to the rule are also the same homes that are purchased by professional real estate investors (Often times for cash after the price has been bid up).
2. Buzz From Media And Peers:
Often times the media will pick up on certain key terms and individual stories that help exemplify the story they are trying to tell in that specific segment. In today’s 24 hour news cycle, the story that is told can change from day to day. This in turn causes the public to hear bits and pieces of mixed messages that become exagerated, twisted, and confused. Linn and Kelly specifically talk about how all of their peers were telling them about distressed properties, but none of them were actually obtaining them.
3. Frustration And Disappointment:
During the beginning of their home search, Linn and Kelly experience a common theme of frustration and disappointment after looking at shortsales and foreclosures. They discuss the lengthy time frames and hidden costs that ultimately lead to a “dead end”.
